La Liga 06/07 League Champions

Congrats to Real Madrid for winning the 2006/2007 La Liga title. Real Madrid pulled off a 3-1 victory over Mallorca after being down 1-0 at halftime. Barcelona's effort of 5-1 over Gimnastic was in vain.

I personally am saddened by this being a Barcelona fan, but we will be back next year harder than ever. We must take this year as a lesson and come back prepared for next year's campaign, not only in La Liga but Champions League as well.

Congrats to Real Madrid for fighting hard until the very last whistle of the season. Also congrats on your first trophy in four years.

La Liga Finale

Today at 3pm EST will kick off the final matches of La Liga. Three teams are still in the run for the title. Real Madrid are still at the top of the table after a great finish last week against Zaragoza. Barcelona are hoping that Real Madrid slip up in their final match and that they can get a victory over Gimnastic. The final team still in the running is Sevilla, who need Barcelona and Real Madrid to lose. Check your local listings for channels showing the matches, it is sure for be an exciting finish to a great La Liga campaign.

This is a compilation about the great Cristiano Ronaldo by Wozny from soccerpulse. Cristiano Ronaldo is known for the many tricks that he does on the field. La Liga Highlights

Highlights from the Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Sevilla matches.

La Liga Update: Spoiler Alert

If you do not want to know the score from the Barcelona vs Espanyol game and the Real Madrid vs Zaragosa game please do not read this post!!!

Today's matches of Barcelona vs Espanyol, Sevilla vs Mallorca, Real Madrid vs Zaragosa are a prime example of why you must play every soccer game hard until the final minute because anything can happen in the dying minutes of a game.

Barcelona took on Espanyol at their home field of the Camp Nou. They needed to win this match to stay alive in the title race. Espanyol took the lead in the 30th minute with a great striker by their captain Tamudo, but Barcelona would tie the game just before half time with a controversial goal by Messi, which was his version of the 'hand of god' done by Maradona back in the 1986 FIFA World Cup.

I guess Messi is the new Maradona since he has scored duplicates of the goals Maradona scored back in that 1986 game against England.

Anyways, after halftime Barcelona went on top with another goal by Messi to give them a 2-1 lead. As I said you must play the match to its entirety. In the 90th minute Tamudo beat Barcelona's offsides trap to tie the game at 2-2.

In the other important match of this weekend Real Madrid fell behind in the 32nd minute to Zaragosa with penalty kick that was taken by Diego Milito. Zaragosa would go into halftime with the 1-0 lead. In the second half Real Madrid tied it at one a piece with a header by the Dutchman Van Nistelrooy. Zaragosa would take the lead again in the 64th minute though with another goal by Diego Milito. Real Madrid though would continually fight for the equalizer. Like the theme of this post has been 'fight to the end' they did. In the 89th minute Van Nistelrooy came away with a strike that could possibly helped Real Madrid win the La Liga title.

Sevilla tied Mallorca 0-0, I did not watch the match so there is not much I can really highlight for you.

Barcelona failed to capitalize on the lead that they had in this weekends game, but there is still one more game left in the league , so it looks like the title race will come down to the very last game and who wants it the most between Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Sevilla!!

Here is how the table for the top 3 currently stands:

1. Real Madrid 73 pts
2. Barcelona 73pts
3. Sevilla 71 pts

Real Madrid currently leads due to head to head games with Barcelona.
